Fellowship
Trinity excels as a community that is closely knit and
takes care of one another.
Youth Group
- The High School Youth meet during the Sunday School hour. Over the
past few years, our time has been spent between lessons based on the
Faith Lens Bible study, service projects, and fundraising for our
triennial summer trip to the ELCA's National Youth
Gathering.
Some of our service projects include serving at City Mission, playing
bingo at Birchaven, adopting a family in need at Christmas, and
participating in the Coats for Christmas campaign.
We also do things for our
congregation, such as sending care packages
to our college freshman, serving Lenten meals and the annual Easter
breakfast.
Our fundraising efforts include yearly mulch sales,
dinners, and various odd jobs for people; raking leaves, shoveling
snow, etc
One of our favorite activities this year was a
tubing trip to Mansfield, OH. As you can see in the photos,
we had a great time!
Fellowship Dinners
– The WELCA has begun organizing fellowship dinners once a month. These
occur following the regular Worship and Sunday School schedules. There
is usually a trans-generational Sunday School event planned for these
days so that everyone can work together on a project. It is a great
time to celebrate our Christian family, so come, join in the food and
fun.
Ice Cream Social, Bazaar -
An Ice Cream Social in June and a Harvest Bazaar held in October
provide funds to support area missions such as Hancock Christian
Clearing House and Hancock Religious Education.
Jet Set
- The Jet Set is an organization of people at Trinity which began as a
Young Couple's group, but with the years it is now made up of more
mature adults. This group is a social group which gathers for
fellowship on an ad hoc basic. Typically someone will choose a month
during the year to provide a program for the group. Sometimes the group
will go to special festivals, musicals, theater plays. Some samples of
programs in the past they have been traveling to week-end retreats,
sometimes at one of our Lutheran Camps, to the Marion Prison for a
prisoner conducted theater, to the Ritz Theater, to the Hayes Museum
for their reenactments, to community festivals, to Hancock Park
District special programs, to the University of Findlay Summer Stock
theater, etc. Typically when going out for a program the group will
meet at a restaurant to begin the evening with a dinner meal. Programs
for the Jet Set are as varied as the imagination of those preparing a
meeting. Traditionally each year at Thanksgiving they will have a
Thanksgiving dinner. The group is loosely organized and most programs
are announced in the weekly church bulletins and by word of mouth. All
members of Trinity are welcomed and encouraged to attend any and all of
the programs of the Jet Set.
